On Saturday, October 12, 2019 at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel, Portsmouth, VA, law enforcement officers from each Hampton Roads city and county who have demonstrated a commitment to a safer community in the past year will be recognized at the 2019 Hampton Roads Regional Top Cop Awards Dinner and Silent Auction, sponsored by the Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Lines. Individuals, corporations and organizations will also be recognized for their efforts toward safer neighborhoods and businesses.
Besides honoring local law enforcement officers, individuals, corporations, and organizations that have helped make our community a safer place to live and work, this dinner is also held to raise the needed revenue to support our mission and purpose. The mission and purpose is to provide the 1-888-LOCK-U-UP telephone service and the P-3 computer software that enables local jurisdictions to get anonymous text and web tips.
A partnership has long existed among all of the Hampton Roads region’s Crime Line and Crime Solvers programs. We currently share the 1-888-LOCK-U-UP anonymous tip number, which is used to report the location of regional fugitives, the location of stolen property, the location and use of illegal drugs, and to inform law enforcement of criminal activity in our community.
The region’s seven local Crime Line/Crime Solvers programs are supported solely through contributions from private sources. Tax dollars do not support these programs. This dinner is our major regional fundraiser.
