Greater Hampton Roads Regional Crime Lines includes
Crime Line, Crime Solvers & Crime Stoppers Program Across the Hampton Roads Region
Crime Line, Crime Solvers and Crime Stoppers programs exist internationally with high success rates. Since 1982, Crime Line in Hampton Roads has recovered more than $28 million in stolen property and illegal drugs. Its success can be further measured by the fact that 97% of those arrested through Crime Line tips are convicted.
Crime Line/Solvers is NOT a law enforcement program. It is a citizen based program in cooperation with local law enforcement and local media. These efforts are funded entirely by private donations from concerned citizens and businesses. Volunteer citizen boards administer the program, raise funds then approve and pay rewards to “tipsters.”
IMPORTANT NOTE: All callers to Crime Line/Solvers remain anonymous through a careful policy of numeric identification and payment. Confidentially has played a key role in the success of Crime Line and no caller is ever asked to testify in court. Anonymous Tipsters are eligible for rewards of up to $1,500 if their information leads to an arrest.
Crime Line Goals
The primary goal of all Crime Line/Solvers projects is to generate calls from citizens to ultimately solve crimes. The end result is a safer community. Crime Line/Solvers is a formula that works, but only if we are able to deliver that message and pay the rewards.
For four decades, the public has come to trust Crime Line/Solvers, as proven by the hundreds of tips that come into its regional phone bank, 1-888-LOCK-U-UP, every month.
Hampton Roads Crime Line and Crime Solver programs (see Programs) have adopted a “Tip” capability for use on mobile communication devices that ensures the same level of anonymity as that assured by Tipsters using the telephone Tip line. To install this FREE app, tipsters can search for “P3” on the Apple App Store or Android Market. Tipsters can also utilize web sites sponsored by each program to submit tips anonymously.
